Background
The Burkgren’s property is uniquely perched on a slight hill that provides them with amazing views of the rocky mountains but the outside of their home was bland and their existing deck did little to take advantage of the views. Or protect them from the extreme sun, harsh winds, and unpredictable weather.
The inside of the home was dated, dark, and dismal. The kitchen, living room, bedrooms, and basement were in dire need of updating. Natural light was minimal due to smaller, uninviting doors and windows.
But most of all, the flat low ceilings throughout was far from the mountain chalet feel they longed for.
The exterior transformation is breathtaking!
The Vision
Given that moving was out of the question, as they truly loved their location, it was time to get to work creating an all-new all-season home that seamlessly incorporated the indoor and outdoor living spaces.
And since a great way to make a space feel instantly bigger is to open things up, we did just that; by craneing off the entire living room ceiling then replacing it with a vaulted wood-beam ceiling.
Next up was transforming their boring uncovered deck with a proper Four Season Outdoor Living Space. We created flexibility by adding operable glass wind walls that fully open or close, Infratech ceiling mounted heaters, and a few Custom Warming Trends fire features, eliminating any weather worries for the future.
Beyond the essentials, several creature comforts were added to enhance the space that include:
- Maintenance-free composite decking
- BBQ and outdoor kitchen
- Large sunken spa
- Wireless speakers and sound system
- Brand new luxury outdoor furniture
But that’s not all, their new outdoor living space steps down to a hardscape and swimming pool area.
The living room has one of the biggest transformations with the addition of vaulted ceilings. They truly open up this home!
Now onto the inside of the home. The kitchen, bedrooms, and basement all received their much-needed renovations. But the crowning jewel of the inside is their new vaulted ceiling living room that features a masonry fireplace to anchor the room in addition to including the same glass walls used on their deck creating a truly seamless feel.
When this project is complete, the Burkgren’s home will be the perfect place to enjoy extraordinary Four Season Outdoor Living.
