Seamless Colorado Living

Location: Black Forest, Colorado

This Blackforest home had potential and with a little decking intervention, the Masterpiece team designed and build a beautiful outdoor living space that seamlessly integrated this home’s interior and exterior. The new space features both protected and open-air areas plus a full outdoor kitchen complete with a smoker and griddle!

Notable Features

  • Full outdoor kitchen with extra wide pass-through window to integrate the indoor kitchen
  • Large glass wind walls and infrared heaters to protect the main outdoor living space from the elements
  • Open-air sunken hot tub to enjoy evening stars without being over-exposed.
  • Our signature fire feature highlights the mountain views captured in glass and fire
  • Wide sweeping staircase leading down to a lower hardscape area

Perched at the top of the Palmer Divide, this windswept home lacked a true outdoorliving space. The aging deck was exposed to the whims of Colorado’s unpredictable weather and the family had had enough. They wanted a way to enjoy their entire home all year round… regardless of the weather.

So my team and I got to work designing the perfect outdoor living space for this Colorado family. The new space enhance the overall aesthetic of their home, which they loved by adding several unique outdoor spaces.

First up was the outdoor kitchen. This began by opening up the wall to create a large pass-through window from the indoor kitchen. Next was adding ample prep area countertops and finishing it off with the essentials that include: a smoker, griddle, bbq, icemaker, and ice chest.

Beyond the enclosed cooking and eating area is an open-air section of the upper deck with a large sunken hot tub and eating area. Oh, and we can’t forget about the breathtaking seating area in front of the home’s existing large picture windows. This special area is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the warmth from our signature fire and glass feature.

Finally, as you stroll down the large sweeping staircase you’re greeted to a welcoming lower deck area with a beautiful stone hardscape and three more entertaining and dining areas all perfect for enjoying Colorado’s beauty… all year long.
