This Lookout Mountain home near Golden, Colorado had great bones but did not Our clients lived in their beautiful home, located in the Flying Horse Neighborhood on the northside of Colorado Springs, for several years. The Pikes Peak and Rocky Mountain views were breathtaking but there was a catch. The home’s upper-level deck and lower-level outdoor living space but because they are exposed to southwestern sun and winds, the spaces were rarely used.

After seeing postcards of what could be done to their home with Masterpiece Outdoorliving, Craig and Susan knew exactly who to reach out to create their dream outdoor space. They truly desired a way to entertain their large group of friends and family without having to worry about the weather.
So my team and I set out to create their dream outdoor living space that would combine the love of entertaining and their need for protection from the elements.
We began by refining their already great exterior layout by adding operable glass wind walls to the covered areas on both the upper and lower decks. This would provide that much-needed protection. But that wasn’t all, we also added infrared heating elements to assure optimal comfort.
The right wing of the upper deck was kept exposed so they could enjoy the warmth of the sun or gaze at evening stars. A custom glass fire feature was also added to provide a bit of heat when needed but also enhance their amazing mountain views.
On the lower outdoor living space is where we placed a bar that includes a built-in kegerator with two taps, a mini-refrigerator, and an ice chest. Opposite the bar is a plush lounge area that boasts a 10-foot-long fireplace and 85” television. Both areas are accessible by extra-wide glass doors so the transition from indoor to outdoor is seamless.
Finally, we expanded the lower area to include a brand new deck area complete with a second custom, curved, fire feature and open-air bartop with a built-in grill perfect for outdoor cooking.
My team and I are so excited that we had the opportunity to help this family perfect their home by creating the perfect outdoor living space.
Luxurious Detail: We added electric sun shades to help block glare but not their amazing views of Pikes Peak.
