Flying Horse Escape

Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado

This beautiful home in the Flying Horse neighborhood North of Colorado Springs has breathtaking views of Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains. After living in the home for several years, these clients contacted us because they rarely enjoyed their outdoor space. The home’s existing upper deck was exposed to the southwestern sun and frequent wind. Their lower level patio was unprotected and lacked privacy, rendering both spaces unusable.

Flying Horse Escape: Inside the Masterpiece

The Background

Craig and Susan were inspired by the stunning postcards showcasing the Outdoor Living Spaces designed by Masterpiece Outdoorliving. They knew right away that they wanted to turn their own deck and lower patio into an inviting retreat where they could host their family and friends year round; regardless of the weather.

To make their vision a reality, our team got to work drawing on our expertise in creating Outdoor Living Spaces that blend style, function and our client's personal taste. We designed a space that would not only accommodate their large gatherings but also offer protection from the elements, so that they could entertain rain, snow or shine.

The result was a truly exceptional Outdoor Living area that exceeded Craig and Susan's expectations and left them with a space they will enjoy for years to come. Slide the arrows on the images below to see the before and after of this project.

The Plan

To enhance Craig and Susan's outdoor layout, we added operable glass wind walls on both the upper deck and lower level patio. These walls provide much-needed protection from the wind and the elements. Additionally, we installed infrared heaters to ensure optimal comfort, even on cold evenings.

We left the right side of the upper deck exposed to allow them to soak up the sun's warmth or stargaze on clear nights in front of their custom fire feature. Not only does this fire feature provide additonal warmth on chilly nights, but it amplifies the already stunning mountain views with it's glass backdrop.

The lower level patio features a stunning bar with a built-in kegerator, mini-fridge, ice chest and buffet area, all conveniently located for easy entertaining.

Across from the bar, a cozy lounge area offers the ultimate relaxation with a 10-foot-long fireplace and an 85” television. The extra-wide glass doors seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor living.

The Result

This family can now enjoy their expanded and upgraded outdoor space to the fullest! This once drab and lifeless space is now a year-round oasis that not only compliments the architecture of the home but has added tremendous value to the property. We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to create this family's dream Outdoor Living Space.
